Creating any list comprised of all-time greats can be a real challenge. There is always the fear of forgetting one of the GOATs off the list and making anyone who looks at the ranking question its validity.

When it comes to former Minnesota Vikings players, omitting a legendary player can be obvious to fans of the team but may not stand out as much to those who haven't been following the purple and gold for many years.

Those lists are always a lot of fun to look at and debate, but very few are universally agreed upon as being exactly correct. That is a risk that is taken any time those types of lists are assembled for entertainment purposes.

Controversial former Vikings QB a major snub on recent all-time list

Recently, Robert Zeglinski of USA Today's For The Win released a list titled "Ranking the 10 greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time" that contained some of the greatest players to ever throw a football in the NFL.

The list starts out solid enough. Tom Brady and Joe Montana are in the first and second positions with Johnny Unitas, Patrick Mahomes, and Otto Graham rounding out the top five. The list rounds out with Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, John Elway, Fran Tarkenton, and Drew Brees.

It is great to see Tarkenton included on the list, but it could easily be argued that a former Vikings quarterback was snubbed from the list. Although he is a controversial figure these days, Brett Favre deserves to be in the top ten.

Favre ranks fourth in league history in passing yards (71,838), passing touchdowns (508) third in completed passes (6,300), and third in pass attempts (10,169) Add in 11 Pro Bowls and three MVPs, and you have a solid case for a player who should be included in any list of top quarterbacks no matter if it is five or ten players.

Favre is not mentioned anywhere in the piece, including the section talking about former Green Bay Packers and current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rogers. 20 seasons in the NFL and enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame say enough about his legacy as a football player no matter what may happen away from the game.

The question is not IF Brett Favre was snubbed from this list, but why he was not included. It can easily be debated where the former Vikings signal caller deserves to be ranked, but the fact that he's not ranked at all is baffling.
