One local Twin Cities analyst believes the Minnesota Vikings will have Pro Bowl pass rusher Danielle Hunter on the field for the 2023 season.
When it comes to the Minnesota Vikings, and pretty much every other team in the NFL, the offseason is full of speculation. Some of this speculation is based on informed knowledge about a certain situation, while other examples of speculation is just straight-up guesswork.
When someone like KSTP's Darren Wolfson shares his speculation about a certain subject, it typically falls more into the "informed knowledge" category. So when Wolfson said the following about Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter on a recent episode of SKOR North's "Minnesota Sports with Mackey & Judd" podcast, it seems worth paying attention to.
"I still think the Vikings end up giving Danielle some sort of raise. I see Danielle Hunter in 2023."
Extension or departure are only options for Minnesota Vikings and Danielle Hunter
Hunter is certainly not in the prime of his NFL career, but he is still one of the top pass rushers in the league. So with this still being true, he's definitely going to want to make more money in 2023 than the $12.99 million he's currently due to earn from Minnesota this year.
If the Vikings want to keep Hunter on their roster for the upcoming season, then they will likely have to extend the former third-round pick at some point within the next few months. Otherwise, they will have to find another team that is willing to trade for the veteran defender.
But based on Wolfson's recent speculation, it seems safe to feel optimistic about Hunter's chances of remaining with Minnesota for not just the 2023 season, but beyond it as well.
