Vikings first-round pick contender No. 3

Nate Wiggins, CB - Clemson

Looking at young cornerbacks in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft could be smart if the Minnesota Vikings take care of their holes on offense through free agency. One option at cornerback could be Clemson defender Nate Wiggins.

At six-foot-two, Wiggins will match up well against most NFL receivers. He had a successful 2023 campaign, accumulating 29 combined tackles, recovering two fumbles, and intercepting two passes in ten games.

Minnesota doesn't have a glaring need at cornerback unless they decide to release Byron Murphy Jr. this offseason. Behind Murphy, the Vikings have a lot of young defenders who are still learning and gaining NFL experience.

Deciding to draft a young, talented defensive back is typically never a mistake. Although there is always bust potential, making your defense stronger with youth at a position that can be very expensive can be a very smart move.

Other CB options:
- Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama
- Cooper DeJean, Iowa
