A recent survey revealed that a current NFL executive, coach, or scout believes there are more than a handful of receivers better than Minnesota Vikings pass-catcher Justin Jefferson.
On Monday, we shared the current NFL quarterback rankings that were generated from an ESPN survey of multiple current executives, coaches, and scouts from around the league. That survey determined that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is currently not viewed as one of the top-10 signal-callers in the NFL heading into the 2023 season.
On Tuesday, the wide receiver rankings generated from this ESPN survey were released, and unsurprisingly, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, Justin Jefferson, landed in the top spot.
Jefferson being viewed by multiple people as the absolute best wide receiver in the NFL shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. However, there was something else from the survey that stood out like a sore thumb.
Someone actually thinks Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings isn't a top-five NFL wide receiver
Included inside the survey results that ESPN shares for these rankings is the highest ranking and the lowest ranking that each player received from the people participating in the exercise.
Jefferson's highest ranking in the survey was obviously first, but his lowest ranking came in at seventh. That means at least one person believes there are currently six wide receivers better than Jefferson.
Excuse me? The kid is coming off of a season where he was named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year. He's broken multiple league and Vikings records in just three seasons, and there's a good chance that he hasn't even reached the peak of his career yet.
If Jefferson continues to play as he has during his first three years in Minnesota, there's a good chance that there won't even be six wide receivers from the entire history of the NFL that are better than the Vikings superstar.
