With Justin Jefferson leading the way, a Minnesota Vikings pass-catching group that also includes Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Aaron Jones is one that many would consider to be among the best in the NFL.
Well, former Chicago Bears quarterback Chase Daniel apparently isn't among those who believe the Vikings currently have one of the top pass-catching groups in the league. In fact, Daniel takes it even further by ranking Minnesota's pass-catching group as the worst in the NFC North.
Former Chicago Bears QB thinks Justin Jefferson and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings pass-catching group is the worst in the NFC North
Daniel's take just reeks of bias for the Bears, a team that he spent two years of his NFL career with. Coincidentally, the Detroit Lions are in the No. 2 spot on his list, another team that he was a member of during his time in the league.
So, to recap, Daniel believes a Chicago group of pass-catchers that has never played a meaningful game together and a Lions group that features a No. 2 wide receiver whose catch rate since 2023 (49 percent) is the third-lowest in the entire NFL are better than the pass-catching groups for both the Green Bay Packers and Vikings.
Yeah, sure, these two groups should definitely rank higher than a Vikings pass-catching unit that includes an All-Pro receiver in Jefferson, a tight end in Hockenson who has hauled in 58 more passes than Bears tight end Cole Kmet since 2022, a running back in Jones who has accumulated at least 45 catches in four of his last five seasons, and a WR2 in Addison who led all rookie receivers in 2023 with 10 touchdown receptions.
It's easy these days to get caught up in the practice of attempting to come up with the hottest take imaginable to draw more attention to one's content. However, these takes should still be crafted with logic, and this doesn't seem to be the case with Daniel's rankings of the pass-catching groups in the NFC North.
