Former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is reportedly expected to join the University of Colorado staff and their new head coach Deion Sanders.

Shortly after Deion Sanders was hired to be the new head coach at the University of Colorado earlier this year, former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was rumored to be in the running to become the defensive coordinator at the school.

Well, Zimmer didn't end up as Colorado's defensive coordinator, but a different former Vikings coach is reportedly expected to accept a role to join Deion's coaching staff at the school.

According to 247Sports' Carl Reed Jr., former Minnesota offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is expected to be hired by Colorado as an offensive analyst.

Success has been hard to come by for Pat Shurmur since leaving the Minnesota Vikings

After filling in as the team's interim offensive coordinator at the end of the 2016 season, Shurmur was given the opportunity to be the full-time offensive coordinator for the Vikings in 2017.

With Shurmur calling the shots for the offense, Minnesota finished the 2017 campaign ranked 10th in the NFL in scoring, 11th in passing yards, and seventh in rushing yards.

What made this even more impressive was the fact that the Vikings were able to achieve these rankings despite quarterback Sam Bradford and running back Dalvin Cook missing the majority of the season.

Shurmur's success in Minnesota led to him getting a second chance at being an NFL head coach when he was hired by the New York Giants in 2018. Unfortunately, he only lasted two seasons as the Giants' head coach before the team moved on from him.

After his short stint in New York, Shurmur was hired by the Denver Broncos in 2020 to become the team's new offensive coordinator. His time with the Broncos also only lasted for two seasons after Denver struggled to do much on the offensive side of the ball with Shurmur calling the plays.

So now, after taking all of 2022 off from coaching, Shurmur will be hoping that his time with Deion in Colorado will turn out to be more successful than his last two coaching jobs.
