Potential returning Viking No. 2

Za'Darius Smith, edge

Replenishing talented edge rushers might be a priority for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. At this time, Danielle Hunter, Marcus Davenport, D.J. Wonnum, and even Anthony Barr are scheduled to hit free agency.

Considering how Za'Darius Smith left the Vikings the first time around, it would be a bit surprising to see him return for 2024. However, his talents could be of use to Minnesota and it's hard to know what kind of contract he will command this offseason.

Smith played in 16 games for the Cleveland Browns in 2023 and registered 20 quarterback hits that earned him 5.5 sacks. The three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher had a bit of a down year statistically, but only played 59 percent of the Browns' defensive snaps.

The Minnesota Vikings need to find some players to plug into Brian Flores' defense. An aggressive system and a regular role might be appealing to Za'Darius Smith and could help lead him back to the team this offseason.
