A player who was once drafted by the Minnesota Vikings has been signed by the New York Jets.

Back in 2017, the Minnesota Vikings used a seventh-round draft pick to select Northwestern defender Ifeadi Odenigbo but his story as a member of the franchise was nowhere near done at that time.

Odenigbo was on the Vikings practice squad as a rookie and the team saw enough potential in him to ink him to a reserve/future contract to bring him back to camp for the 2018 NFL season. However, the young edge rusher wouldn't make the team and was released in Sept. of 2018.

The Cleveland Browns claimed him off waivers but released him less than a month later. Once again, the New Jersey native was claimed off waivers, this time by the Arizona Cardinals out in the NFC West.

In Arizona during the 2018 NFL season, Ifeadi Odenigbo got his first taste of regular-season action by seeing action in one game by playing seven defensive snaps and registering his first career tackle in the process but was once again waived.

In Oct. 2018, Odenigbo returned to the Minnesota Vikings on the practice squad and once again earned a reserve/future contract. This time he earned a spot on the 53-man roster for the 2019 season and played in all 16 games and saw action on 392 total snaps, earning seven sacks, 23 combined tackles, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.

Ifeadi Odenigbo returned for 2020, playing 15 games in a starting role where he notched 35 combined tackles and 3.5 sacks, He signed with the Giants as a free agent in 2021 but was relaeased and returned to the Browns.

Last season, Odenigbo split his time between the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would become an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2023 NFL season and has finally been signed by a team.

Where has the former Minnesota Vikings defender signed?

According to the official Twitter account of the New York Jets, the Jets announced the team has signed Ifeadi Odenigbo as well as running back Damarea Crocket while releasing tight end Izaiah Gathings.

The New Jersey native gets to play his home games in New Jersey. Best of luck to Ifeadi Odnigbo during his time with the New York Jets. Hopefully, he can continue to carve out a role for himself in the NFL.
