Free-Agent Guard No. 6

John Simpson

2023 Team: Baltimore Ravens

If the Minnesota Vikings are willing to roll the dice a little bit in free agency, they could take a chance on former Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens guard John Simpon to fill their gap at left guard for the 2024 NFL season.

Simpson is a powerful blocker but is prone to making some mistakes. PFF has his 2023 grade as 56.5 but also has him responsible for one sack and eleven penalties. He will need to clean up those mental mistakes to improve his status as a blocker.

Simpson started all 17 games and took 1,118 offensive snaps for Baltimore last season. However, he will always likely have a large chip on his shoulder from being waived by the Raiders in December of 2022.

Cleaner footwork could lead to John Simpson being able to showcase his powerful blocks on a more regular basis. The six-foot-four, 330-pound lineman has the physical tools needed to be a great guard in the NFL.
