Possible Vikings free agent target No. 3: Richie James

2023 Team: Kansas City Chiefs ($1.2325M cap hit)

On the surface, it is easy to look at any Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver and want absolutely nothing to do with them because if they can't be successful with Patrick Mahomes throwing them the ball, they won't do well with whoever is the Minnesota Vikings quarterback in 2024.

The reason Richie James might be the exception is that he was a bit buried in Kansas City and hasn't been able to establish himself since returning from a knee injury. But it is his 2022 season that should interest Minnesota.

James looked good in 2022 while playing for the New York Giants. With 70 targets, he had 569 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 17 games. And was solid in his first three years with the San Francisco 49ers.

Investing a small amount into a young player who has shown flashes of brilliance but hasn't realized that potential lately can be a smart move. On a team where he wouldn't need to be a top option, Richie James could find a solid role with the Minnesota Vikings.
