Greedy Williams, cornerback

There usually is very little risk when signing a young player who didn't seem to work out with their original team. For the Minnesota Vikings, that means bringing in 25-year cornerback Greedy Williams to see what he has to offer.

Williams was a second-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft who was selected by the Cleveland Browns. He started 12 games as a rookie but saw his contributions fall to eight starts in 2021 and only one start last season.

He suffered a nerve injury in his shoulder in 2020 training camp and went on season-ending injured reserve. He wasn't the same when he returned. The Philadelphia Eagles gave him a look this offseason, but released him in August.

Greedy Williams wouldn't be an immediate candidate for Immediate playing time with the Minnesota Vikings, but having another young cornerback with a lot of potential to evaluate and work with seems like a smart idea, especially if he can be signed at a low cost. And a team can never have too many decent defensive backs.
