5 free agents the Vikings should already be thinking about for 2024

Matt Breida, RB - New York Giants
The Minnesota Vikings will still have guys like Alexander Mattison, Ty Chandler, and Kene Nwangwu under contract but might not get Cam Akers back since he will be a free agent and he suffered an Achille's tear earlier this season.
For that reason, the Vikings might look for another running back to do work similar to what Akers did for the team before his injury. A good option might be Matt Breida, who is finishing up his contract with the Giants this year.
Breida has been excellent as a receiver out of the backfield and averaged 4.6 yards per carry throughout his career. He could pair well with Alexander Mattison in a situation where the two split carries.
A signing that wouldn't cost Minnesota too much, Spotrac estimates Breida to cost approximately $1.2 million for 2023. If the team can't bring back Cam Akers, Brieda might be a player worth taking a long look at.
