This offseason, the Minnesota Vikings will need to load up on edge rushers. They have Danielle Hunter, Marcus Davenport, and D.J. Wonnum expected to hit free agency and will need to find starters and depth.
Edge rushers are expensive. Former Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Jerome Baker was on a three-year deal worth $37.6 million but was released on Tuesday. Miami was expected to attempt to sign him back, but those conversations have reportedly cooled off.
Baker is another player whom Brian Flores should be very familiar with. He had his best statistical seasons in 2020 and 2021 but struggled to keep his play at a high level for his next two seasons in Miami.
A "prove-it" style deal for Jerome Baker makes a lot of sense for the Minnesota Vikings. He was his most productive in Miami under head coach Brian Flores and could be able to return to form in a purple and gold jersey.
