Minnesota Vikings wide receiver took to social media on Monday to share his honest reaction to earning a 99 rating in the latest "Madden" video game.
On Monday, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was able to cross off something on his bucket list after EA Sports announced that the superstar will have a 99 rating in the latest version of their iconic "Madden" video game.
Since he's from a generation that grew up playing "Madden", Jefferson shared a humbling reaction on his Twitter account after the announcement was made on Monday.
Justin Jefferson becomes fourth Minnesota Vikings player to earn 99 rating in "Madden"
Prior to Monday's announcement, only three Vikings players had ever earned a 99 rating or better in a "Madden" video game.
Minnesota's 99 club prior to Jefferson joining included former offensive guard Randall McDaniel (in Madden NFL 99), former defensive end Jared Allen (Madden NFL 11), and former running back Adrian Peterson (Madden NFL 14).
Multiple former Vikings players have also earned a 99 rating in a "Madden" video game, however, their honor came during a year in which they were not a member of Minnesota's roster. This group includes Morten Anderson (Madden NFL 99) and Randy Moss (Madden NFL 06 and Madden NFL 09).
Last year, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, and San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams were the only NFL players to have a 99 rating in "Madden NFL 22" when the game was first released.
Donald and Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning hold the all-time record for most years with a 99 rating in "Madden" with six. Moss is the only former Vikings player to earn a 99 rating in multiple versions of the "Madden" video game.
Former Detroit Lions pass-catcher Calvin Johnson holds the all-time record for 99 ratings in a "Madden" video by a wide receiver with four. Considering Jefferson is still only 24-years-old, he should have a good chance to break Johnson's record if he continues to play at the elite level that he has so far in his NFL career.
