After he made an incredible play earlier in the matchup, star Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson unfortunately left Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers early due to a leg injury.
With less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, Jefferson went down after he was hit in the leg by a 49ers defender. The All-Pro receiver was then helped off the field by Minnesota's training staff, and he eventually walked back to the team's locker room for more testing.
Shortly after he headed to the locker room, the Vikings revealed that he exited the contest with a quad injury. Hopefully, for the sake of Minnesota's season, his injury doesn't end up being anything serious.
Justin Jefferson injury vs. San Francisco 49ers has potential to derail Minnesota Vikings 2024 season if serious
The Vikings and their fans are hoping for the best when it comes to the latest injury to the team's top wide receiver.
It seems important to note that Jefferson was able to walk back to the locker room on his own and not with the help of a cart. If his quad injury was believed to be torn or strained, he likely wouldn't have been able to walk off the field on his own.
Update: After the game, Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell revealed that Jefferson suffered a quad contusion on Sunday, and they're currently listing him as day-to-day.
It sounds like Jefferson might have a chance to play next Sunday, which is great considering how some Vikings fans likely felt after seeing the receiver leave the 49ers game early with an injury.
