First-Round Pick No. 3 (29th overall via Kansas City)

Kamren Kinchens - S (Miami)

This pick comes from a deadline-day trade the Chiefs will make with the Vikings for Danielle Hunter. Kansas City's defense looked mediocre without Chris Jones in Week 1, and even when Jones is on the field, the production from their edge rushers is lacking. Trading for Hunter alleviates the pressure on Patrick Mahomes and the offense and makes the Chiefs much more dangerous.

For the Vikings, they told us all we need to know about the Lewis Cine situation by not playing him when Josh Metellus suffered an injury early in their Week 2 loss to the Eagles.

Cine is a bust, plain and simple, which hurts to say because the front office passed on Kyle Hamilton to trade back for Cine. He is No. 5 on the depth chart, even behind undrafted free agent Theo Jackson, who has predominantly been a practice squad guy since he arrived in Minnesota.

The Vikings move on from Cine for current Miami safety Kamren Kinchens, who many view as the best safety prospect in this draft. Kinchens can play both free and strong safety, and he has an innate ability to find the ball in the air.

He is comfortable in man coverage and can also play in zone. Kinchens can hold his own paying in the nickel, but he will need to clean up some issues with tackling at the next level.

But with this selection, Brian Flores gets his version of Jevon Holland for Minnesota's defense.
