Vikings Running Backs (5)

  • C.J. Ham
  • Alexander Mattison
  • Ty Chandler
  • Kene Nwangwu
  • DeWayne McBride

Even without Dalvin Cook on the team, the running back grouping is crowded. It will be tough to cut any of these high-potential players without seeing more from them since each offers some great qualities to the Vikings backfield.

Of course, fullback C.J. Ham shouldn't have too much to worry about since he signed a two-year extension to keep the Duluth native in Minnesota through the 2025 season and act as a lead blocker in the run game.

Things will look a bit different for the halfbacks without Cook since Alexander Mattison is likely to get the starts. His two-year deal worth $7 million should have him see more than the 74 carries he had last season.

Ty Chandler and DeWayne McBride are both former draft picks who have yet to get opportunies to showcase their skills and should get that chance on special teams at the least while Kene Nwangwu should return as the team's kick returner.
