Vikings 53-man roster projection

Safeties (4)

  • Harrison Smith
  • Camryn Bynum
  • Lewis Cine
  • Josh Metellus

This could be the final year Harrison Smith is a part of the Minnesota Vikings' defense. Smith has been a mainstay since being a first-round pick of the team in the 2012 NFL Draft. Entering year 12 with the purple and gold, he brings experience and leadership to the group.

Returning as a starter from last year, Camryn Bynum is likely to have that role opposite Smith once again. It would be a bit surprising to see him be unseated but with more practices and preseason games to go, it's not impossible.

Lewis Cine, the Vikings' first round pick in 2022, should almost be treated like a rookie this year. Now that he is healthy, it will be interesting to see what Minnesota's vision is for the scrappy young defensive back.

Once thought of as only a special teamer, Josh Metellus has been slowly been able to prove he can be trusted on defense as well. A solid emergency option, he will fit in well in this group and should be able to make the team.
