Vikings 53-man roster projection

Tight ends (3)

  • T.J. Hockenson
  • Josh Oliver
  • Johnny Mundt

One of the deepest positions on the Minnesota Vikings roster is tight end. There is definitely a chance the team could keep four players at the position if they feel they could all contribute in different ways.

Last season, T.J. Hockenson seemed to seamlessly fit in when he arrived in a trade from the Detroit Lions and it will be interesting to see what he can do with a full season now that he has enjoyed more time with the team.

Brought in as a blocking specialist, Josh Oliver opened a few eyes during the team's first preseason contest. Considering the struggles of the offensive line at times last season, he could find a solid role this year.

Johnny Mundt is good at everything, but isn't really elite in any particular area. Being well-rounded makes him a fantastic third tight end that can do anything the team asks him to do, especially if there is an injury higher up the depth chart.

Nick Muse had the only Vikings touchdown in the first preseason game and it was a nice grab in the end zone. If he continues to look good, it might be hard to keep him off future projections of the 53-man roster.
