Vikings 53-man roster projection

Linebackers (8)

  • Danielle Hunter
  • Marcus Davenport
  • D.J. Wonnum
  • Patrick Jones II
  • Jordan Hicks
  • Brian Asamoah
  • Ivan Pace Jr.
  • Troy Reeder

The pass rushers at outside linebacker will be an interesting unit to keep an eye on. Considering the investment that the Minnesota Vikings made in Danielle Hunter and Marcus Davenport, they should be considered the starters.

As the backups, experienced players D.J. Wonnum and Patrick Jones II could have the advantage. A strong camp and preseason have pushed Luigi Vilain into the discussion but he will need to continue that momentum to unseat the more experienced players.

The absence of Eric Kendricks still hasn't really set in. Having Jordan Hicks as the veteran inside linebacker feels strange but he and Brian Asamoah should be up for the challenge of stopping ball carriers this year.

In another competition that seems wide open, potential could beat out experience. Ivan Pace Jr. has looked good in practice and the first preseason game while either Troy Reeder or Troy Dye could grab the last spot.
