Round 5, Pick 158

EDGE Nick Hampton - Appalachian State

If the Minnesota Vikings see Drew Sanders as more of an edge rusher than an interior linebacker, they might not be as keen on selecting Appalachian State's Nick Hampton but in this situation, they don't.

Edge rushers are a big question mark for Minnesota since both Za'Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter seem a bit disgruntled in their current situations. The Vikings did sign Marcus Davenport but could still use more talent and depth at the position.

The 6-foot-3 and 225-pound defender played 46 games during his five-year college career, netting 40 tackles for a loss including 26.5 sacks. There is little questioning when it comes to his college productivity and nose for the football.

it would be a bit surprising for Hampton to still be on the board when the Minnesota Vikings selection comes up, but if he is still there, the team should be running to the podium to add him to their stable of young, talented pass rushers.
