Tuesday's news about Brandon Powell re-signing with the Minnesota Vikings definitely felt like an indication that K.J. Osborn won't be returning to the team this year. Well, now it's highly unlikely that Osborn will be back with the Vikings after the team announced on Thursday that they have signed free-agent wide receiver Trenton Sherfield.

A member of the Buffalo Bills last season, Sherfield has been in the NFL since 2018, when he signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt. In 17 games with the Bills this past season, he caught 11 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown.

With Sherfield added to the mix, Minnesota's current group of wide receivers now consists of him, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Brandon Powell, Jalen Nailor, Trishton Jackson, N'Keal Harry, Dontavian Jackson, Malik Knowles, Daylen Baldwin, and Thayer Thomas.

Trent Sherfield not the only new player the Minnesota Vikings signed on Thursday

In addition to adding the 10th receiver to their roster on Thursday, the Vikings also revealed that they signed free-agent defensive lineman Jerry Tillery, who spent the 2023 campaign with the Las Vegas Raiders.

In 17 appearances with the Raiders this past season, Tillery accumulated 31 tackles (two for a loss), nine pressures, six QB hits, two sacks, and one fumble recovery. He also received the 40th-best defensive grade from PFF among qualifying defensive tackles for his performance in 2023.

Tillery landed with Las Vegas midway through the 2022 season when they claimed him off of waivers after the Los Angeles Chargers moved on from him. Before he wound up with the Raiders, he spent the first portion of his career with the Chargers after they selected him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Obviously, Tillery hasn't lived up to the expectations that came with being a first-round draft pick. However, Minnesota thinks he can at least help improve the current depth of their defensive line.

Along with Tillery, the Vikings' current group of defensive linemen includes Harrison Phillips, Jonathan Bullard, and Jaquelin Roy. Minnesota will likely attempt to add to this position with one of their selections during this year's NFL Draft at the end of April.

Thursday's additions definitely aren't the most exciting free-agent signings made by the Vikings this week. But both Sherfield and Tillery are low-risk additions who have the potential to make an impact on Minnesota next season if they end up making the team's final roster.
