On Thursday afternoon, Minnesota Vikings tight end Ben Ellefson announced his retirement from the NFL after just three seasons in the league.

Injuries a big factor in Minnesota Vikings TE Ben Eleffson retiring from the NFL

In a post that Ellefson shared on his personal Instagram account, he noted that injuries were "a big part" of his decision to retire from the NFL.

Last season, the 26-year-old tight end was placed on Minnesota's injured reserve list twice due to a groin injury. Ellefson only wound up appearing in a total of four games in 2022 due to his injury.

During the 2021 season, he also spent a significant amount of time on the Vikings' injured reserve list because of knee and foot injuries. A knee injury also resulted in Ellefson landing on the injured reserve list during his lone year with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020.

Undrafted out of North Dakota State, the Minnesota native ends his career in the NFL with a total of four catches for 36 yards in 16 appearances with both the Jaguars and Vikings.
