10 best backup quarterbacks in Minnesota Vikings history

Quarterback has always seemed to be a hot topic for Minnesota Vikings fans. For the majority of the team's history, fans have not been completely satisfied.
But, for a moment, let's move past the bigger names and starting quarterbacks. It's time to appreciate the lesser-known commodities.
In that spirit, let's take a look back at the 10 greatest backup quarterbacks in Vikings history.
10. Sean Salisbury
After two years in the NFL to begin his career from 1986-1987, Sean Salisbury spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before returning to the NFL with the Vikings in 1992. He remained with Minnesota for three seasons as a backup, starting a total of nine games, going 5-4.
Salisbury threw for 2,772 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions in Minnesota.
9. Gus Frerotte
Gus Frerotte had two separate stints with the Vikings, but the first one came from 2003-2004 when he was the backup to Daunte Culpepper. Frerotte ended up starting two games in that span, winning both of them. Then, in 2008, he returned to Minnesota and went 8-3 as a starter.
In total, Frerotte threw for 2,847 yards, 19 touchdowns and 17 picks during his days with the Vikings.
