Vikings could be facing a depleted 49ers team next week
By Adam Patrick
Following their win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, next on the schedule for the Minnesota Vikings is a Monday-night matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers were one of two remaining unbeaten teams heading into Week 6, but they suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday when they took on the Cleveland Browns.
The game isn't the only thing San Francisco lost in Cleveland, as both running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel were unable to finish the matchup due to injuries.
McCaffrey exited the game in the third quarter with an oblique injury, and after the contest, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned that the running back is also dealing with a rib injury. Nothing has been revealed yet regarding whether McCaffrey could miss any time this season due to his injuries.
As for Samuel, he left the game against the Browns with an injured shoulder. Following the contest, it was revealed that the x-rays on his shoulder were negative, and according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, San Francisco reportedly thinks the wide receiver "will be fine" moving forward.
In addition to McCaffrey and Samuel, 49ers All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams was also seen wearing a walking boot after Sunday's game. Williams left the matchup against the Browns briefly due to an ankle injury, but he was able to return and finish the game.
All of these injuries will be worth keeping an eye on during the next few days as the Vikings prepare for a big Week 7 showdown against a now 5-1 49ers team. If any of them are able to play, it would certainly give Minnesota a better chance to come away from the matchup with a win.
