Second-Round Pick (43rd overall)
J.J. McCarthy - Quarterback (Michigan)
Despite not landing a quarterback in the first round, the Minnesota Vikings still have an opportunity to select the starting signal caller from National Champion Michigan in the second round by selecting J.J. McCarthy.
Minnesota has a lack of options at quarterback. There aren't a lot of great options in free agency unless the Vikings decide to open their wallets wide in order to re-sign Kirk Cousins, who is coming off an Achilles' tendon injury.
McCarthy has been successful over three seasons at Michigan. improving with each passing year. He finished his junior year by competing 72.3 percent of his passes for 2,991 yards in 15 games and throwing 22 touchdowns with only four interceptions.
Finding the quarterback of the future for the Minnesota Vikings is a top priority. Grabbing a prospect like J.J. McCarthy in the second round is a low-risk move, especially if the team can have him sit behind a veteran for a season or two.
