Minnesota Vikings to honor coach Bud Grant on 2023 uniforms
By Adam Carlson
Team uniforms will be extra special for the Minnesota Vikings during the 2023 NFL season since they will be honoring former head coach Bud Grant.
When talking about the greatest head coach in Minnesota Vikings history, there usually isn't much of a discussion. It is difficult for anyone to come close to matching what Bud Grant was able to achieve during his time with the team.
A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Grant coached 259 regular season games for the Vikings and finished with a record of 158-96-5 between 1967 and 1985 while taking the team to four Super Bowl appearances.
Sadly, Bud Grant passed away in March. However, his influence and impact on the franchise will never be forgotten and the Minnesota Vikings will honor his memory during the upcoming season on their jersey in Week 1 as well as their helmet all season long.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert recently shared a peek at how the jersey patch and helmet sticker will look on his X account.
During Week 1 of the upcoming season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Vikings will be wearing their throwback jerseys. It is fitting that a patch with Bud Grant's first name as his signature will be featured on the front.
The helmet sticker will be something the team will keep all season long. Similar in style to the patch, the sticker will be a great way for the current players to keep the memory of the legendary head coach alive.
Of course, fans visiting Minnesota to enjoy what the Vikings have to offer can get a deeper look at the legacy of Bud Grant if they visit the team museum near the practice facilities in Eagan, Minnesota or cue up footage from the Purple People Eaters era of the team and enjoy his handiwork,
