The Minnesota Vikings will name their inactive players before kickoff of Week 1 and these individuals are likely to be on the list.

Each game this season, the Minnesota Vikings can have 46 of their active 53 players suit up on game day. That means that at least seven players will be declared inactive before kickoff and they will not be eligible to play.

For Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, deciding which players will be declared inactive could be a tough decision. There are many young players who need to gain experience, but these five are likely to be included.

Theo Jackson, safety

The Minnesota Vikings have a pretty strong safety grouping. Harrison Smith and Camryn Bynum are the starters with Lewis Cine likely being the primary backup for them both, leaving the need for one emergency player.

Depending on the role of newly-extended Josh Metellus, the need for a fourth safety may not totally be necessary. Unless Metellus is looked at as a nickelback, there won't be enough of a reason to keep Jackson active.
