For the first time since 2017, Kirk Cousins won't be stepping on an NFL field this season in a Minnesota Vikings uniform. Instead, Cousins is now a member of the Atlanta Falcons, and in 2024, he will attempt to help his new team earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season.

The former Vikings quarterback is joining a Falcons team that has an offense full of young playmakers like Bijon Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts. Many believe Cousins can help Atlanta's offense reach its full potential this year, but The Ringer's Danny Kelly isn't among these believers, as he shared during a recent episode of "The Ringer Fantasy Football Show".

"Guys, I kind of think Kirk Cousins is just going to be bad this year.

...He's 36, he's coming off an Achilles injury. He has a new offensive coordinator. He has a new [offensive] line, new targets, no chemistry with any of these guys. We don't even know if he's fully healthy at this point.

I feel like the Falcons are telling us a lot by the things that they've been doing the last like six months. They drafted Michael Penix, and then they sat him after one short outing in the preseason. I don't know, guys, it's like the Windhorst [meme]. What's going on here? What does this mean?"

Is Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins going to stumble in his first season away from the Minnesota Vikings?

Kelly brings up many valid points, and Minnesota fans know all about Cousins failing to live up to his expectations during his first season with a team.

The Falcons drafting Michael Penix in the first round this year and then only having him play in one preseason game this summer also raises plenty of questions about the team's intentions for Cousins, as Kelly mentioned.

Atlanta's fans are really excited about the potential of their team this season with the former Vikings quarterback starting for them under center. But with all question marks surrounding Cousins and the rest of the Falcons entering the 2024 campaign, the excitement from the fan base should probably be tempered a bit until the team actually gives them something to cheer about out on the field.
