Vikings Mock Draft: 2024 mid-season 7-round mock draft
By Nik Edlund
Seventh-Round Pick
Storm Duck - CB (Penn State)
Was he drafted because of his name? You bet your quacker he was. Duck is more than just a beak and feathers, this is an aggressive corner who hits like a linebacker. Duck doesn't just attack the ball carrier, he goes after the ball with the same type of aggression when it's in the air. He is quick to make his reads, and then he reacts to the ball without hesitation.
He can play basically in any scheme with his length and ball skills and has excelled in both press-man coverage and zone. He's got great closing speed and can change directions on a dime. There are some concerns about his recovery speed, and sometimes, he doesn't wrap up when making those aggressive tackles.
Corner isn't the biggest need on the Vikings, but they could use a young player to develop. Duck has plenty of tools to work with, and if he has a solid finish to his season, followed by good performances at the combine and his pro day, he could even be taken higher.
