Vikings Mock Draft: 2024 mid-season 7-round mock draft
By Nik Edlund
Second-Round Pick
Bo Nix - QB (Oregon)
The Vikings hold steady and land their quarterback of the future in the second round. Again, this pick does depend on whether or not Kirk Cousins is re-signed in 2024.
Even if he is brought back for a couple of years, Minnesota would be wise to have their heir apparent learn from Cousins for not just what he does on the field but also how he carries and conducts himself as a leader of this team.
Bo Nix isn't the most imposing figure, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 217 pounds soaking wet, but he's athletic, he can make plays with his legs, and he can extend his time in the pocket.
He doesn't have a rocket arm, but he has the strength to make any throw asked of him. Nix does have a quick release and is excellent at improvising when the play breaks down. He does need to polish up his footwork, but there's a ton of clay here for Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell to mold.
Nix has loads of experience due to playing at Auburn for three seasons before transferring to Oregon. The production is also there, as he's thrown for over 13,000 yards in his career with 93 touchdowns to 25 interceptions.
Minnesota doesn't have to force a quarterback in the 2024 draft, and they can sit back and let one fall into their laps. If that quarterback is Nix, they could very well have a steal on their hands.
