It's about the midway point of the 2023 season, so why not do a Minnesota Vikings mock draft for 2024?

Sixth-Round Pick No. 2

Will Sheppard - WR (Vanderbilt)

The Vikings aren't going to use all of their picks beefing up the trenches and finally take a sexy position like a wide receiver. Who knows what KJ Osborn's future is with the team, as he could be lured away with a hefty contract from a team in free agency. If that does happen, the Vikings will definitely be looking to add a pass catcher in the draft and could even address the position much earlier than this.

Will Sheppard is a guy who would be an interesting fit in this offense. He's got a big frame, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing just under 200 pounds. Sheppard excels at making the tough catches in traffic and could be an asset on third downs as he isn't afraid to go over the middle to sacrifice his body to make a play.

Sheppard is an excellent route runner for a bigger target and has exceptional hand strength. He's also dangerous after the catch with the ability to get those YACs. Some of the concerns about his game are his history of drops and the fact that he is by no means a burner. That's why he's a sixth-round pick, but one who has potential with a year of seasoning.
