On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings are reportedly expected to reveal a throwback uniform that will be worn during the upcoming 2023 NFL season.

It's been more than a decade since the last time the Minnesota Vikings suited up in a throwback uniform for a regular season game. That could apparently change during the 2023 campaign if a recent report turns out to be true.

In a recent email sent out to Vikings season ticket holders, the team announced that they will be holding a virtual event on Tuesday, July 18th at 12 p.m. CST that will feature current Minnesota fullback C.J. Ham and former Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton. The email also shared that there will be a "special announcement" made during the virtual event.

Well, according to uni-watch.com's Paul Lukas on Monday, that "special announcement" will be the unveiling of a new throwback uniform for Minnesota.

What era will the new Minnesota Vikings throwback uniform be from?

Given that Tarkenton will be taking part in the virtual event on Tuesday, one would imagine that the Vikings' throwback uniform will be from a season in which the Hall of Fame quarterback was with the franchise.

If this is the case, then Minnesota's new throwback threads will be from a season between 1961 and 1965 or between 1972 and 1978.

They could certainly be from a different season as well, but Tarkenton's participation seems to indicate that the new uniform will resemble one that the former quarterback wore during his tenure with the Vikings.

If Minnesota does, in fact, reveal a throwback uniform for the 2023 campaign on Tuesday, the upcoming season will be the first time since 2011 that the team will sport a throwback uniform for at least one game on their schedule.

Some might still be holding out hope for a Vikings throwback design from the late 1990s or early 2000s, but it seems like that's probably not in the plans, at least for this year.

Let's just be excited that Minnesota is likely going to wear an alternate jersey for a game next season that isn't part of a color rush uniform.
