What are some of the most intriguing Minnesota Vikings news headlines from the last few days as we inch closer to the start of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine?
So far this offseason, there has been a ton of Minnesota Vikings news to talk about, and the last few days have only added to the discussion.
When it comes to some of the most recent Vikings news headlines, Minnesota pass rusher Marcus Davenport, veteran Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, and former Minnesota wide receiver Jake Reed are some of the people involved in a few of the most notable topics from the last couple of days.
So, let's just get right into all of it.
Vikings News: Minnesota re-negotiates void date for Marcus Davenport
On Monday, the contract for Davenport was set to expire, and the Vikings were going to be left with $6.8 million in dead cap.
However, Minnesota is apparently giving themselves a little more time to see if they want to bring the veteran pass rusher back for another season or not, as they have reportedly re-negotiated the void date for his current contract to March 13th, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert on Monday.
Davenport signed a one-year deal with the Vikings last offseason worth $13 million, and the team was hoping that he could form a ferocious pass-rushing duo with Danielle Hunter in 2023.
But, thanks to injuries, the former New Orleans Saints defender only managed to appear in a grand total of four games for Minnesota this past season.
Davenport is still only 27-years-old, and after an underwhelming performance in 2023, his price tag likely isn't going to be as high as it was last offseason.
For someone who seemed like a guaranteed departure this year, there now seems to be a slight chance of him returning to the Vikings for at least one more season.
