Vikings Week 17 game vs. Packers will remain in primetime

With the Packers quickly falling out of the NFC playoff picture, some wondered if the Week 17 primetime matchup between Green Bay and Minnesota would be flexed out of Sunday night for another contest.

Well, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson on Thursday, the NFC North battle between the Vikings and Packers will not be flexed out, and it will remain the Sunday night game for Week 17.

Heading into Week 16, Minnesota has a 7-7 record, while Green Bay dropped down to 6-8 after losing on their home field last Sunday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If the Vikings lose to the Detroit Lions and the Packers defeat the Carolina Panthers this weekend, then both Minnesota and Green Bay will have the same record heading into their Week 17 showdown.

With the matchup remaining in primetime, it will be the first Sunday night meeting inside U.S. Bank Stadium between the Vikings and Packers since the 2018 season when Minnesota left the field with a 24-17 win.
