Former Vikings RB Dalvin Cook reacts to trade speculation
In his first NFL season outside of Minnesota, Dalvin Cook's tenure with the New York Jets definitely hasn't gone as smoothly as he thought it was going to go when he joined the AFC East team before the start of the 2023 regular season.
During his last three games with the Jets, Cook has averaged slightly more than five touches per matchup, and so far this season, he's only rushed for a total of 109 yards.
Due to his lack of involvement in New York's offense this year, there have been rumors that the team is open to trading him before next week's deadline on October 31.
On Thursday, Cook responded to his name being included in some of the most recent trade rumors around the league.
"It's something I can't control, that my name is being floated around in trade rumors. It might be a good thing. Maybe a bad thing."
The former Vikings running back has not formally come out and requested a trade from the Jets, but he did say on Thursday that if a move were to happen, he would just want it to be one that is "best for everybody."
Cook is clearly unhappy with his current role in New York, and if the team cannot find a trade partner to take the running back off of their hands before next Tuesday, it wouldn't even be that surprising if the Jets just flat-out released him before the end of the season.
