Some major Minnesota Vikings news was shared by the team's head coach Kevin O'Connell on Tuesday when he revealed that Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson suffered a serious knee injury this past Sunday that could cause him to miss part of the 2024 season.

O'Connell announced that Hockenson tore his ACL and MCL, which will obviously cause him to miss the rest of the 2023 season, including the playoffs, if the Vikings are able to qualify, and it could potentially keep him out for the start of the 2024 campaign as well.

Tuesday's news is just the latest devastating blow to a Minnesota team that has been ravaged by injuries this year, as Hockenson is the 10th Vikings player to suffer a season-ending injury in 2023.

Minnesota Vikings News: Team also reveals another significant player injury

In addition to the news about Hockenson, Minnesota also revealed on Tuesday that veteran pass rusher D.J. Wonnum also suffered a season-ending injury in the team's loss to the Detroit Lions this past weekend.

Wonnum had to be carted off of the field on Sunday, and it was later confirmed that the Minnesota defender suffered a torn quad in his leg that will require surgery to heal properly.

The injury is extremely unfortunate for Wonnum, as he was in the middle of arguably the best season of his NFL career and he will be entering free agency in 2024.

As for some of the other Vikings players who were injured during Sunday's loss, O'Connell revealed that rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison and rookie cornerback Mekhi Blackmon are both day-to-day with ankle and shoulder injuries, respectively.

Minnesota currently has a 7-8 record heading into their Week 17 game against the Green Bay Packers, and considering how many season-ending injuries the Vikings have dealt with in the last few months, it's possible that O'Connell actually has his team overachieving with the seven games they've been able to win this year.
