With the NFL season officially wrapped up, it is time to turn the page to the 2024 season and a fresh mock draft to set the Minnesota Vikings up for the future.

The Minnesota Vikings have been in draft mode for a while now, but the entire NFL has officially joined them as the season has come to an end.

This was not a season to take much away from as the Vikings struggled to stay healthy and were far from the team they were expected to be for most of the year.

My main takeaway from 2023 is that the Vikings have been given the rare opportunity to turn the page and find a new franchise quarterback.

With the 11th overall pick at their disposal in a class that features a lot of promising options, Minnesota should have been in the mix regardless of Kirk Cousins' status.

Given that Cousins is coming off an Achilles injury as he enters his age 36 season - and the fact that we have never seen a quarterback return from that sort of injury at this stage of their career - Minnesota really has no excuse not to try to trade up.

The Vikings will probably do what they can to move up the board and land one of the top three quarterbacks in this class to reset the salary cap for a few years.

With a massive extension looming for Justin Jefferson, and plenty of other holes to fill, it would benefit Minnesota to have a rookie under center.

For this mock draft, the Vikings are going to swing for the fences and land their franchise quarterback by trading up into the top five.
