Third-Round Pick No. 2 (89th Overall)

Renardo Green - CB (Florida State)

The Vikings are always going to add cornerbacks in the draft at some point. Mekhi Blackmon showed flashes as a rookie in 2023, and Byron Murphy was their best cornerback by a wide margin in his first season with the team. Still, Minnesota needs depth on the perimeter after early struggles from Akayleb Evans and Andrew Booth.

Renardo Green brings size and speed to the outside as a Day 2 player who can start from Day 1. He was one of the best cornerbacks in the nation last season and had a stellar week at the Shrine Bowl, where he watched his draft stock skyrocket.

He allowed just 31 receptions on 60 targets across 363 coverage snaps for a Florida State defense that went undefeated until bowl season. He forced 13 incompletions in 2023 and recorded his first interception of his college career.

While the lack of turnovers will be a concern, Green was as shutdown as it gets for a Day 2 player and with how talented the top of the cornerback class is, he is the start of the second wave. Minnesota would have a competitor right out of the gate and plenty of depth at cornerback.

Green would join a group of Murphy, Blackmon, Booth, and Evans, which ultimately would give the Vikings their entire cornerback rotation, with Josh Metellus capable of playing in the slot as well.
