Vikings player to be excited about No. 4

D,J, Wonnum, edge

The situation for edge rushers might be a little rough in 2024. Marcus Davenport is unlikely to return while Danielle Hunter is likely to fetch a massive contract in free agency. That opens up a spot for D.J. Wonnum to potentially slide into a starting role.

A torn quad ended his season in 2023 but not before he played in 15 games and got eight sacks. Wonnum played 83 percent of Minnesota's defensive snaps last year, proving the team has faith that he can be productive.

Although Wonnum is set to become a free agent, he should be among the Vikings' top options to bring back for 2024. He could be an inexpensive option as a starter as the team attempts to allocate their salary cap toward other needs.

It would be a mistake not to bring D.J. Wonnum back to the Minnesota Vikings in 2024 considering his value and production. Hopefully the team makes the right decision and fans can watch him continue to get after opposing quarterbacks.
