Vikings position battle No. 4

Starting inside linebacker: Ivan Pace Jr. vs. Brian Asamoah

Although this competition isn't completely finished, the battle may have already ended. Since the Minnesota Vikings needed to find a new starter to replace Eric Kendricks, it was assumed that Brian Asamoah, Troy Reeder, or Troy Dye would be in line for the job.

Nobody really expected undrafted free agent Ivan Pace Jr. to look so good in training camp and play well in the preseason. Having that happen along with Brian Asamoah missing time due to an undisclosed injury.

Asamoah has since returned to practice, but it will be interesting to see how the Vikings see the linebackers and how they play these two defenders during the final preseason game of the year for Minnesota.

Having Pace make a splash is a great sign not only for the starting defense but for depth and rotational play. Hopefully, he can continue to shine and possibly make an impact for the Minnesota Vikings this season.
