Vikings prediction No. 2
The Broncos will get in their way offensively
We just got done mentioning that the Vikings' defense should be able to do its job on Sunday night, but there’s a good chance they could have some help due to the Broncos’ tendency to get in their own way.
According to The Athletic’s Nick Kosmider, the Broncos have committed a pre-snap penalty on 3.2 percent of their snaps this season. Their biggest issue has been false starts where they’ve committed five in Monday night’s win over the Bills and have Mike McGlinchey, whose six false starts are tied with Carolina’s Ikem Ekwonu for the most in the NFL.
Kosmider went on to state that the Broncos’ 21.6 percent conversion rate on third downs of seven yards or more ranks 22nd in the NFL. By comparison their third down conversion rate on third downs less than seven yards ranks ninth at 56.7 percent.
The Vikings have struggled overall on third down, allowing a 43.6 percent conversion rate this season that ranks 28th. But if the Broncos want to give them some help, Flores and his group will gladly take it.
