Vikings prediction No. 3

Ty Chandler will post his first career 100-yard game

The Vikings' running game has been frustrating this season, but Ty Chandler showed enough promise that he could be an efficient solution.

Chandler got his opportunity when Alexander Mattison suffered a concussion in last week’s win over the Saints and ran the ball 15 times for 45 yards and a touchdown. While the box score didn’t look great, Chandler’s stats took a hit when his 29-yard touchdown run was nullified by a holding penalty on Brian O’Neill. He also showed the speed that produced a 4.38-second time in the 40-yard dash and the burst that Mattison hasn’t shown this season.

With Mattison currently in concussion protocol, Chandler could have a chance to lead the backfield again in a juicy matchup against the Broncos.

Denver currently has the league’s worst run defense at 5.6 yards per carry allowed this season. While that number is inflated by a 350-yard performance in a Week 3 loss to the Miami Dolphins, the problem hasn’t been solved with 192 yards and 7.4 yards per carried allowed against the Bills on Monday night.

Mattison wasn’t able to make defenses pay for their mistakes but Chandler has the speed to do so. If he finds a crease, it could lead to a big run that could lead the Vikings to victory.
