There is no consensus on which quarterback the Minnesota Vikings should be focused on during the 2024 NFL Draft. Opinions vary wildly but guessing which prospect will end up in a purple and gold jersey is a massive challenge.

The Chicago Bears are expected to select USC passer Caleb Williams while the Washington Commanders seem to be strongly linked to LSU prospect Jayden Daniels. Past that, the situation gets even more muddled with the New England Patriots not showing their cards about drafting a quarterback or not.

Minnesota has been linked to many prospects including North Carolina's Drake Maye, Oregon's Bo Nix, and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. as being possible options for the Vikings in the first round of the draft.

Even with all those names being possible to be called when the Vikings are on the clock, there is one polarizing prospect that seems to be gaining momentum as the favorite to be the team's selection at the 2024 NFL Draft.

Vikings reportedly the favorites to draft polarizing QB prospect

Recently Connor Hughes of SNY shared an article about how Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is enjoying a massive rise on teams' big boards ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft and could be selected much sooner than some fans expect.

Hughes' dive into McCarthy takes a look at his road through growing up as a high school football player and his time as a National Champion at the University of Michigan as well as his stock leading up to the draft.

In the SNY piece, Hughes shared that "multiple sources" have told him that the Vikings are the favorites to land McCarthy at the draft but would likely have to leapfrog the New York Giants in order to do so.

Last March, the Giants agreed to terms on a four-year extension with Daniel Jones worth $160 million which acts a lot more like a two-year deal, giving New York a potential out after 2024. Having Jones this season won't stop the G-Men from taking a top quarterback prospect if they feel the right value is there.

Minnesota Vikings fans are hot and cold on McCarthy. Some see him as a future NFL star while others see him as a player who might struggle to find success as a professional. The big question is how much the scouts and general manager like what they have seen from the University of Michigan prospect.
