2. Aaron Dykes, RB

Since the departure of Dalvin Cook, running back has been a hot topic amongst Vikings fans. It isn't a question of whether Alexander Mattison can be the guy and step in as the starter. Most believe that he is fully capable of doing so.

But, the main question has come with the guys behind Mattison. Who will be the primary backup in Minnesota? Over the course of the offseason, training camp and the preseason, it's been between 2022 fifth-round pick Ty Chandler and 2021 fourth-round pick Kene Nwangwu.

Right now, no one knows whether either of those guys has a firm grasp on the backup job. And, behind them is rookie seventh-round pick DeWayne McBride, who has also had a few bright moments during the preseason.

Speaking of McBride, he puts the Vikings' running back room at four, unless the team thinks they can sneak him onto the practice squad. Regardless, it means Aaron Dykes is an easy cut. The Richmond product was signed as an undrafted free agent this year, came into the league with some experience as a returner as well, but remains buried on the depth chart. At this point, there's no way he winds up on the active roster.
