Among the latest Minnesota Vikings rumors is some info about the team deciding not to sign veteran quarterback Joe Flacco when he was a free agent earlier this season.
As he's in the middle of helping lead the Cleveland Browns into the playoffs this season, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco is the subject of one of the most intriguing Minnesota Vikings rumors from the last few days.
According to KSTP's Darren Wolfson, Flacco wanted to sign with the Vikings earlier this season when Minnesota was in need of a quarterback after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles.
However, the Vikings opted to pass on bringing Flacco in, and instead, they made a trade with the Arizona Cardinals to acquire Josh Dobbs.
Vikings Rumors: Did Minnesota make a mistake by not signing Joe Flacco?
With Flacco currently playing out of his mind and going 4-1 in his five starts with the Browns this season, it certainly makes Minnesota's decision to pass on him earlier this year seem a regrettable one.
But at the same time, no one could have predicted the run that Flacco is currently on.
Before signing with Cleveland a few weeks ago, the veteran quarterback had a 3-14 record in his previous 17 starts as a member of the New York Jets and Denver Broncos.
Based on his lack of recent success before 2023, why in the world would the Vikings think Flacco, at the age of 38, was going to come in and save their season?
Sure, in hindsight, it's easy to say that Minnesota made a gigantic mistake by not signing the current Browns quarterback.
But there is no way to prove that Flacco would have had the same success with the Vikings that he's been able to have with Cleveland during the last few weeks.
