Vikings training camp takeaway No. 5

Expect a highly competitive cornerback battle

The most turnaround for the Minnesota Vikings happened with the cornerbacks. Both of the starting outside cornerbacks from last season are no longer with the team and it will be interesting to see which defenders can step up and grab a spot.

Defensive coordinator Brian Flores spoke to the media about this situation and immediately said that it is going to be a "competitive camp" for the position with multiple guys who have done well leading up to training camp.

Flores went on to say that he expects the cornerbacks to be competitive in every step of the process, including meetings, walkthroughs, and practices. It will likely be some of the little things that get noticed and could make the difference between a starting job, roster spot, and being released.

The Minnesota Vikings coaching staff will have their hands full with evaluating this group since the team accumulated quite a bit of talent and won't be able to bring all of them onto the 53-man roster for this season.
