Takeaway No. 1

It's early, but Jaren Hall has looked impressive

Back in April, the Vikings caused a few eyebrow raises when they used their fifth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft on former BYU quarterback Jaren Hall.

Fifth-round quarterbacks typically don't turn into starters in the NFL, but for whatever reason, something seems different about Hall. For now though, the rookie is taking it one practice at a time, and so far, things have gone well.

During Thursday's practice, Hall stood out to those in attendance. FanNation's Will Ragatz provided details about some of the throws the rookie quarterback made during the afternoon.

"In the first 11-on-11 period of practice, Hall ripped accurate throws over the middle to Lucky Jackson on consecutive plays. Later in practice, he threw a perfect ball with touch to Thayer Thomas on a well-covered crossing route, putting it just over the defensive back where only Thomas could catch it. Hall followed that up with a nice back-shoulder throw up the left sideline to Cephus Johnson III."

Ragatz also added that Hall still missed multiple throws, including one that almost resulted in an interception. But missed throws are to be expected from a rookie quarterback in the second full-team training camp practice of his NFL career.

So far, so good with Hall. However, we'll have to see if he continues to perform well once Minnesota begins their padded practices and has joint sessions with both the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals later this summer.
