Takeaway No. 4

Andrew Booth Jr. not getting first-team reps

When the Vikings made the decisions to move on from cornerbacks Patrick Peterson, Cameron Dantzler, Chandon Sullivan, Duke Shelley, and Kris Boyd earlier this year, the assumption was that Akayleb Evans and Andrew Booth Jr. were going get more opportunities to play during the upcoming 2023 season.

Well, it seems like Evans is on track to make an impact for Minnesota in 2023. But the same can't be said about Booth. At least not yet.

So far, Evans, Byron Murphy Jr., and Joejuan Williams have been getting most of the corner reps with the first-team defense when the Vikings are running their nickel package, according to The Athletic's Alex Lewis.

It's certainly a bit concerning that Booth hasn't really received reps with first-team defense this summer since Minnesota spent a second-round draft pick on him in 2022. But hopefully, he's able to make the most of his opportunities during the next few weeks and impress the Vikings' coaching staff enough to give him some legitimate playing time this year.
