Vikings player No. 5

Ty Chandler, running back

Speaking of running backs, Ty Chandler is another young runner who hasn't quite made an impact for the Minnesota Vikings. Since arriving as a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, thoughts of him using his speed and elusiveness to help the offense have been fun.

The 25-year-old running back has seen the field in all eight of Minnesota's games so far but only played 34 offensive snaps. In those games, he has carried the ball eight times for a total of 42 yards, which is a respectable average of 5.3 yards per attempt.

It's a bit odd that a less-effective Alexander Mattison is still getting so many carries in the Vikings' offense. Still, Chandler has taken part in 37 percent of the team's special teams snaps in order to contribute more regularly.

It might be hard for guys like Kene Nwangwu and Ty Chandler to be a bigger part of the offense if the coaching staff continues to focus on using Cam Akers and Alexander Mattison as the one-two punch on the ground even though it has been mostly ineffective so far.
